About Vision Complex Orphanage
Vision Complex Orphanage was founded on June 2, 2019, by Richard John (Christian name: Simon John) and Happiness Fredrick, with a vision of providing love, care, protection, education, and hope to vulnerable children in Tanzania.
The orphanage began in an abandoned four-room building. Richard used one room as his sleeping room and another for household use, while the remaining rooms were transformed into classrooms where children could begin their education despite the lack of resources.
As life became increasingly difficult, Happiness Fredrick, who was serving as a teacher, was unable to continue with the ministry, leaving Richard to continue the mission.
Our Children
Today, Vision Complex Orphanage is home to approximately 80 children from different vulnerable backgrounds, including:
- Children living with Sickle Cell Anemia
- Children living with HIV/AIDS
- Total orphans
- Children from families facing extreme poverty and hardship
Our Founder and Director
Richard John (Christian name: Simon John), the founder and director of Vision Complex Orphanage, is a small businessman and farmer.
In addition to caring for the children, he cultivates rice to help feed the orphanage. The rice harvest has become one of our primary food sources.
However, whenever medical emergencies arise, especially for children living with Sickle Cell Anemia, we are often forced to sell part of our rice harvest to pay hospital expenses and transportation costs. This frequently leaves the orphanage without enough food for the children.
Medical Challenges
Every month, our children living with Sickle Cell Anemia must attend medical checkups and receive ongoing treatments. Missing these appointments can have devastating consequences and, in some cases, can mean losing a child's life.
This is one of the greatest challenges we face.
Progress Through Generosity
By God's grace and through the generosity of compassionate friends and supporters, we have been able to make significant progress.
Donations from caring individuals have enabled us to build four permanent classrooms, giving our children a safer and more suitable environment for learning.
The Hosken Family and Agape Restoration Society
One of our greatest blessings has been the friendship and support of Robert Hosken and his wife, Cheryl Hosken, who faithfully stood with Vision Complex for many years through their small nonprofit organization, Agape Restoration Society.
Robert also created the Vision Complex Orphanage website on the Agape Restoration Society web server, helping introduce our ministry to people around the world.
Their kindness has helped provide food, medical care, education, and hope to many vulnerable children.
Today, Robert and Cheryl are both in their 80s. While they continue to care deeply about our children, they are no longer able to provide the level of financial support they once did.
Growing Challenges
The recent termination of USAID-supported programs has brought even greater hardship to our orphanage. Many of the children living with Sickle Cell Anemia and HIV/AIDS have lost important support, making it increasingly difficult to access life-saving medical care and essential medicines.
Sadly, there are months when we lose as many as two precious children because we simply cannot meet all their medical needs in time.
Every month, it costs approximately US$1,300 to provide food, medical care, transportation, and other basic necessities needed to keep these vulnerable children alive and healthy.
Without consistent support, their lives remain at serious risk.
Building a Better Future Through Education
Alongside caring for the children, we are working toward a brighter future by expanding our school.
We have launched a project to build four additional classrooms to accommodate our growing number of children and improve the quality of education they receive.
Construction has already begun, and the first classroom has reached the window level.

Spiritual Care and Christian Faith
Beyond their physical needs, our children also need spiritual encouragement. We strive to raise them in the Christian faith, teaching them about God's love and giving them hope for the future.
Unfortunately, we do not have enough children's Bibles for everyone. A Bible given as a gift helps our children grow spiritually and learn more about God's love.
